APR 24: ACES AWARD
----
Aces, Association for Children for Enforcement of Support, is the largest
child support organization in the nation with over 400 chapters in 48 states
and 40,000 members across the United States. ACES members are families
entitled to support who have joined together to take action to improve the
child support system for the 35 million children owed over $41 Billion in
unpaid child support.
On April 17, ACES celebrated its 15th Anniversary at an event held in Los
Angeles. Attendees included public officials, representatives from community
organizations, and others who are working to support ACES. Everclear was
presented with the "ACES Golden Heart Award" in recognition of their work.
Art Alexakis attended the ceremony to accept the award for Everclear.
An ACES spokesperson said, "Everclear's song, 'Father of Mine,' was
outstanding in communicating the searing pain that a child goes through when
there has been a family breakup. ACES applauds their courage and sensitivity
in speaking out about this tough subject."

APR 11: ART'S SURGERY
Just to clarify the surgery situation:
Art is no longer having the neck surgery. Apparently, the vertebra
giving him problems slid back into place, removing the need for surgery.
However, he is still planning on having surgery to remove nodules on
this throat. No specific date has yet been announced for that surgery.
APR 10: SCI-FI CHANNEL COMMERCIALS
From Entertainment Weekly, April 9, 1999, News and Notes:
----
While it's not exactly a mutation of Jekyll-and-Hyde
proportions, mad scientists at the SCI FI Channel have cooked up
a series of promo spots intended to transform the network's
geeky, retro image into something hipper.
Spokespeople on deck include rockers Everclear, wrestling goddess
Sable, and Virgin bigwig Richard Branson.
